Once your web site is up and running, you will need to ensure that the information it contains remains current and of interest to your visitors. Updating your site on a regular basis not only gives your site credibility (from your site visitors perspective), but will also help your search engine rankings. Search Engines monitor how often pages are updated and are more likely to send people to sites that are updated regularly and kept up to date.
WebConsulting can provide you with a basic level of training to allow you to make simple data updates to your site yourselves, or, if you prefer, we can offer an ongoing site maintenance service, to ensure that information is updated on a regular, scheduled basis, or ad hoc on your request.
DIY Maintenance
If you are feeling technically competent and wish to apply updates to your site yourself – that’s fine – we can provide you with all you need to access and update the site code. We can also provide you with basic training, and advice on the types of software you will need to undertake maintenance yourself.
Ad Hoc Maintenance
If you haven’t the time to edit your website yourself, we can help you. WebConsulting can assist you with routine updates of your website as required, charged on an hourly basis.
Often our clients work on an as-needed basis. You do NOT pay for hours not needed and are NOT locked into a monthly contract rate.
Prepaid Maintenance
Probably our most popular site maintenance service is Prepaid Maintenance. This suits clients who recognise the benefits of keeping their site up to date, and anticipate making a number of updates (which may be regular or as required) over a period.
Because Prepaid Maintenance minimises administration and invoicing overheads it is a more efficient means of applying updates to your site and we are therefore able to provide it at a reduced hourly rate.
WebConsulting maintain a register of all updates to your site (whether they are scheduled or ad hoc) and provide you with a maintenance balance each time work is undertaken.
Content Management Systems (CMS)
If your site has content that needs to be updated on a regular basis (such as News, Events or Workshops), we may recommend that you use a Content Management System (CMS) which will allow you to update the content yourself much easier. A CMS may be used for a certain area of the site, or my be extended to cover the entire site.
There are many types of Content Management Systems available, so Contact Us if you’d like to see one in use, or find out more about a CMS that will suit your specific needs.
Site Health Check
WebConsulting can also give your site an annual health check – by reviewing its content, structure, links, domain name record, hosting plan, email addresses, and other elements, you can be confident that your site is as current as possible.
